The Love Mix Diaries

If you’re thinking, pshhhh The Love Mix Diaries sounds melodramatic, you are so right.

I’ve been spiraling, worrying about what to put in my Valentine’s Day cookie boxes.

I am not a huge Valentine’s Day person. I don’t go crazy, I don’t dream of bubbling-with-champagne luxury dinners and boxes of long-stemmed roses paired with giant teddy bears and heart-shaped boxes of chocolates.

And I can’t think of any Valentine’s Day themed cookie that makes me go, oh duh that’s perfect!

Sure, heart-shaped sugar cookies with royal icing. Something chocolate.

Wait, but I really really don’t like royal icing and all the chocolate cookies I can think of I would much prefer to have brownies or cupcakes in their place.

And I would make cupcakes, oh I would, because I truly love making cupcakes. I had my heart set on doing a red velvet cream cheese frosting beauty paired with a super rich chocolate with thick fudge frosting. The perfect pair, sigh!

And these two cupcakes are my cupcake specialties too. However, for now, I am sticking to cookies for space and production reasons. To anyone out here who is desperate for my cupcakes—let’s talk.

I could make red velvet cookies stuffed with cream cheese centers but I have some weird moral issues with that. Like they have to be cupcakes or it’s not really real. Since there is no way I believe the cookie will be as good as the cupcake, there is no way I would spend my time making it.

And I have never actually had a red velvet cookie. I suppose it could be good but when I say my red velvet cupcakes are phenomenal, I mean it. I do not toot or brag, but on this instance I will. If you know of a great red velvet cookie out there, please tell me where I can find it because I would love to put it to the test.

Continuing the melodrama…

My Love Mix cookie box will be a nod to Valentine’s Day. There will be some hearts, there will be some chocolate. There will not be anything covered in red colored chocolate wafers (no hate to anyone who does this but I am also not a white chocolate person). There will be sprinkles! There will be sparkles! There will be twists made to things that The Disco Bakery is already great at. There will probably be last-minute surprises I add to boxes when I inevitably freak out that I didn’t do enough and that there needs to be MORE!!!!

My bake list is already pretty tight, I’m just arguing internally about which sandwich cookie I should make. And if I have time I’m going to surprise add in one of my experimental ideas. Wait, if I have time AND it turns out to be a success, there will be a cool additional, potential heart-shaped something. I’ve already started testing this fun idea out and if it works, it will actually be pretty spot-on Valentine’s Day.

Even though I’m creating this cookie drama in my brain I am super psyched about putting together another cookie box. I love the baking, I love the planning, and I love taking everything one additional step and seeing where this lead.

AND I ordered some fun branded goodies to add to packaging. Love is totally in the air for me, my kind of baking, dancing melodramatic love.

Keep it Disco!
