The Disco Bakery is where classic tried-and-true recipes take on a modern remix.
Sweet treats are baked along to sweet beats.
Baking, dancing, creativity, challenges, and handmade, flavor all roll together.

I’m The Disco Bakery, a designer-turning-baker compelled to—literally—take creativity into her hands so she could dance on her feet, color her world, and explore what connection and passion really mean to her.

I started really baking in 2013. I had always been interested in cooking and baking, and I spent a lot of time cooking and baking growing up. I also spent a lot of time eating, and after college I became really interested in good food. Checking out a hot new restaurant before venturing out for evening activities in my mid-20’s became a thing to do, so we did just that.

Once that glow wore off, I started seeking out activities that were good for my soul, made me free creative, challenged, happy, and calm.

That’s when baking came back to me. I saw some adorable Saint-Patrick’s-Day-themed cupcakes on Pinterest and had to make them. Then I had to make Easter Bunny cupcakes. Then some super fun cheeseburger cupcake/brownies.

That turned into pies, quiche, cake, muffins, focaccia, babka, and cookies. It was a great, if not waist-thickening, hobby.

Now I’m slowly testing the waters by taking that hobby turned passion, applying my design and strategy experience, and seeing where this journey takes me. All while dancing along to a fun beat.

Keep it Disco!

After running some test bakes and sharing them with a select group of friends and family (soft launch?) I was ready to TAKE A REST! I needed some time to recharge, think, plan, organize and reset. For a long time I wouldn’t honor the need to rest, thinking that I had to keep grinding—immediately—or else…

I Still Don’t Like Royal Icing

What a shocker. For the Love Mix cookie box I was determined to create a heart-shaped sugar cookie with royal icing. I wanted them to look like conversation heart candies after seeing a bunch of really cool inspiration circulating on social media. I decided to try my hand at it despite the fact that I…

Chocolate Chip Chronicles: Part II

This is a two part Part II because I’ve had two tests with my chocolate chip cookies. Um, that line makes this sound like a Dr. Suess adventure, which I promise, it is not. Test OneI baked The Disco Chip at 350 degrees and… nope. Too much spread. I could have baked it for longer…
